Cates Farm Takes Champion Title For Second Year at Major Atlantic PACE Shorthorn Show

Harrisburg –Tyler Cates of Modoc, Ind., took home the Grand Champion Heifer title at the Major Atlantic PACE Shorthorn Show on Saturday, Oct. 6, during the 2018 Keystone International Livestock Exposition (KILE) at the Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg.

The Reserve Grand Champion Shorthorn Heifer title went to CF CSF Dream Lady 78 AV X ET, the reserve champion senior female owned by Colten Anderson of Lake Village, Ind.

The Grand Champion Shorthorn Bull title was earned by Armstrong Easy Rider 1603 exhibited by John Allen of Saxonburg, Butler Co., and reserve champion honors was earned by GLF Spirit Fusion shown by Henry Dodrer Jr. of Westminster, Md.

SULL Crystal’s Delight 7004E, exhibited by Addison Walther of Hagerstown, Ind., was named the Grand Champion Shorthorn Plus Female.

Tim Schaeffer, Hagerstown, Ind., continued his winning streak at KILE with the Reserve Grand Champion Shorthorn Plus Female, TSSC Blackberry Pie 829F.

SMC King of the Jungle 1803, exhibited by Sadie Compagnola of Bath, Northampton Co., was awarded Grand Champion Shorthorn Plus Bull. The Reserve Grand Champion Shorthorn Plus Bull, Harmony White Storm, was exhibited by Annette Braun of Mechanicsville, Md.

Chuck Lemenager, of Fairbury, Ill., served as show judge.

The Keystone International Livestock Exposition is the largest livestock show on the East Coast, with more than 1,400 beef cattle, 1,110 horse, 1,700 sheep and wool, 225 swine, and 260 goat entries in 2018. This year, more than 900 exhibitors from 25 states are competing in livestock events. The show also includes the 11th Annual Keystone Classic Barbecue Competition, a Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned event to select the state's finest culinary competitors and the first annual ranch riding competition hosted by the East Coast Ranch Riding Association.
