Indiana and Maryland Cattle Take Top Honors in National Hereford Show

HARRISBURG – Sull Diana 6993S , the spring yearling class winner, exhibited by Tim Schaeffer, Hargerstown, Ind., earned Grand Champion Female honors in the National Hereford Show on Friday, October 6 at the 2017 Keystone International Livestock Expo in Harrisburg.

DJF Melania 53D ET , the early spring yearling exhibited by Nigel Howe, Wagontown, Chester County, earned Reserve Champion Female honors.

Ray and Cindy Howes, Taneytown, Md., exhibited the Grand Champion Bull with their two-year-old JTH SC Playmaker 22C ET .

LCC Redneck Yacht Club 7671 ET , a spring calf exhibited by Jack Lowderman Cattle Company, Macomb, Ill., was Reserve Champion Bull.

The show was judged by Daniel Fawcett of Ree Heights, S.D.

The show is one of six national-level Hereford shows across the country that award points that an animal can accumulate in pursuit of show bull and show female of the year honors.

The Keystone International Livestock Exposition is the largest livestock show on the East Coast, with more than 1,300 beef cattle, 300 horses, 1,500 sheep, 300 swine, and 375 goats in 2017. This year, more than 725 exhibitors from 27 states and Canada are competing in livestock events. The show also includes the 10th Annual Keystone Classic Barbecue Competition, a Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned event to select the state's finest culinary competitors.
