Wether Dams Kick Off 2017 Keystone Livestock Expo

Harrisburg, PA - As part of the Keystone International Livestock Exposition’s (KILE) expanding first weekend shows and activities, exhibitors showed more than 375 goats in nationally-accredited open and junior shows. The weekend began with KILE’s first wether dam show.

The wether dam show is intended for does younger than one year of age, and slated to produce market wethers. Chad Broyles of Bluefield, W.V., judged the wether dam show. 

The weekend continued with a trio of American Boer Goat Association (ABGA) sanctioned shows held in the complex’s Small Arena, with goats housed in the West Hall. Along with the open shows, there was a Junior American Boer Goat Association sanctioned show. Judges were Mark Berry, Glenwood, Ark, and Baily Bergherm, Terre Haute, Ind.

The Keystone International Livestock Exposition is the largest livestock show on the East Coast, with more than 1,300 beef cattle, 300 horses, 1,500 sheep, 300 swine, and 375 goats in 2017. This year, more than 725 exhibitors from 27 states and Canada are competing in livestock events. The show also includes the 10th Annual Keystone Classic Barbecue Competition, a Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned event to select the state's finest culinary competitors.
